Chimps in Senegal, West Africa are pioneering apes. They live at the hottest extreme of any chimpanzee’s range, and the land is only getting hotter. Jill Pruetz studies how chimps are biologically adapting to extreme heat through new and cool habitats: caves. Stream Evolution Earth on pbs.org and the PBS App. For this series, I worked as camera operator alongside Director of Photography, Taylor John Turner. We spent a month in Senegal tracking these incredible chimps with the Fongoli field researchers, Michel and Jaques and Jonny. Our work can be viewed on PBS. I hope to have some stringouts of our specific shots to share here soon.
